GENERAL LOOK AND ATMOSPHERE OF THE ACADEMY

The General look and atmosphere of the Academy is fully fit and wholesome. It surely exercises humanizing, chastening, nourishing and ennobling influence on the students and contribute to their physical, moral and spiritual development. The spectacular lush green parks with soft and delicate green grass, charming flowers and beautiful marble pathway lend a wonderful charm and grace to the Academy.

THE ACADEMY

Guru Nanak Dev Academy is located at Kaithal Road, Pehowa. It is a co-educational English Medium School (Affiliated to C.B.S.E.) up to +2 level. There are separate faculties for Science, Commerce and Arts.

The institution was established by Baba Jiwan Singh, Baba Dalip Singh Education Trust Regd. H.O. Tarn Taran (Punjab) founded by Baba Jagtar Singh Ji Kar Sewa Tarn Taran Wale. This Kar Sewa Mission was begun by Baba Gurmukh Singh, Baba Sadhu Singh Ji.

Undoubtedly, Education is an eternal light which dispels darkness and fills one’s life with enlightenment and intellect. Just like food, Education nourishes and sustains our mind and heart and make us fully fit to envision a better, productive and fruitful future. It lends us a unique potential to deal with all kinds of situation successfully.
Education is the birth right of every child. Keeping this sole aim in spirit, Sant Baba Jagtar Singh Ji set up this Educational Trust to impart high standard and advanced Education so that the parents may not have to send their children to the far off places to get education.
This Academy has a lofty three storied building spreading over 32 acres of land. It is fully equipped with new and advanced laboratories, computer lab, smart classes, computerized library and vast playgrounds.

Religious/Cultural Activities

The Academy lays emphasis on the spiritual and moral development of a child. Along with academics our students also participate in religious activities.
Activities and achievements in session 2016-17:
In Guru Nanak Dev Academy various activities were conducted during the session 2016-17. In May, Punjabi Department conducted Punjabi Debate Competition (Inter House). Eight students participated in this competition. Three students got prizes.
In July, English Department and Hindi Department organized Inter House English Debate, Hindi Story and Hindi Debate. Winners were rewarded by the Principal Sir.
In month of August, English Story Telling Competition and S.St. Quiz were organized by English Department and S.St. Department.
Kite flying competition for boys and Mehandi Competition for girls were organized in the school. Students and staff members enjoyed this competition and winners were awarded.
In November, Science Department and Maths Department conducted the Inter House Quiz of Maths and Science on the screen through projector.
Apart from the activities mentioned above, other cultural and religious programmes were also organized in Academy. Guru Nanak Dev ji’s Birthday was celebrated in Darbar Sahib. Students and teachers participated together in Shabad Kirtan, Religious Poems, Speeches and Path. Langar were also served for the Sangat by the students with great reverence and submission.
Our Gatka Team also participated in various programme and smagams in Patiala, Pehowa etc. The Academy has trained teachers to prepare the Gatka Team. Students won laurels in this Marshal Art too.
Students recited Shabad Kirtan in various Religious Smagams like Kurukshetra, Karah Sahib and Baoli Sahib with reverence.
This year Music Department organized the cultural activities like Solo Song, Solo Dance and Turban Competition. Many students participated in these programmes very enthusiastically.
This year Sikh Missionary College also conducted the written test. Approximately, 180 students appeared in the Exam and winners were awarded with Shields and Certificates.
Our 2 students participated in Speech Competition on ‘Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’ and got 3rd position in Pehowa. Many students of other schools also participated in this competition.
Our school organized a trip for students (Boys and Girls separately) to Paonta Sahib in the month of October/ November.
Baisakhi was also celebrated in the school. On this day, students devotedly recited the Gurbani and presented the speeches and recited the Religious Poetry too.
Independence Day was celebrated in our school. Many students sang patriotic songs, dance and speeches were also performed by the students.
UNO Day was celebrated on 24th October in the school. Mrs Sunita Sharma (PGT Pol. Sci.) delivered a highly influential speech in detail.
On 26th November, Constitution Day was celebrated. A student of 9th Class articulated her views in detail pertaining to the constitution. Our Principal Sir elaborated the Constitution Day in speech.
Art and Craft Department organized various activities like Poster Making, Model from waste Material. Many students took part in these activities.
In the month of December, our students went to Geeta Jayanti (Brahmsrover) to take part in Rangoli Competition.
Our cricket team of girls participated in District Level Tournament (Shahabad) and attained 1st Position and played at State Level at Ambala.

Special Achievements in Sports

  • During the session, our girls (U-19) cricket team attained 1st position in Block and remained winner at District level. The girls also participated in State at Ambala.

 

           

           

SALIENT FEATURES

  • Assembly: Morning Assembly is held regularly in the school Assembly hall to develop ethical and spiritual values among the students. The students offer their prayer in the Gurudwara Sahib on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Conveyance: The school has excellent transport facility for students from surrounding areas. All the buses are well fitted with CCTV Cameras.
  • Games: Our school has a fabulous programme for games and sports. The students play the prescribed games under the strict supervision and guidance of four well trained Physical Education Teachers.
  • Teaching Faculty: The Academy has fabulously qualified, experienced and highly dedicated teaching faculty.
  • Library: Library is a place of learning and self study. Our library is brilliantly stored with a variety of books on all subjects.

 

  • Play grounds:- Separate playgrounds related to various sports like Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi have been laid out. Apart from these games, track-fields for athletics events are separately marked to provide every sport opportunity. Provision for indoor games like Badminton, Gyms, Table Tennis, Carom and Chess has also been availed.

 

  • Laboratories: As effective and wholesome teaching of Science and Mathematics is not possible without practical demonstration and analytical experiments. Keeping in view this need, well equipped and fabulously furnished laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics have been set up.

          

                          

  • Music: Our School has an efficient programme for learning music under well trained music teachers.

 

  • Computer Lab: In the modern age of Science and Technology, imparting computer Education is a sign of sophistication and elegance. To attain this goal, a fully advanced computer lab has been developed.

 

  • Generator: For uninterrupted and constant supply of electricity, our Academy has its own 125 KW Generator. Particularly during summer season, there is no problem of electricity.
  • Activity Room: Childhood is that stage of one’s life when ceaseless bliss, innocence and carefree attitude reign supreme. So in order to rear, nourish and shape little minds into brilliant ones, our school has developed a fully A.C. enriching activity room.

 

  • One Gurmat teacher has been appointed to provide Gurmat Education to aspirants.
  • The Academy trains the students in Marshal Art Gatka and teacher has been arranged for this purpose.

Marvellous Achievements in the Academic Field

during the session 2015-16

 

Guru Nanak Dev Academy has achieved an outstanding success in CBSE XII Exams during the session 2015-16.

Sandeep kaur from Science Group has attained 1st Position by scoring 95.6% marks, Jaismeen Kaur , 2nd Position with 93.2% marks and Shubham, 3rd Position with 89.6% marks.

Harpreet Kaur and Manpreet Singh from Commerce Group have got 93.6% marks with 1st Position, Ramandeep Kaur, 2nd Position with 82.4% while Saravpreet Kaur, 3rd Position with 79.6% marks.

Harpreet Kaur from Arts Group has scored 1st Position with 84%, Ashavdeep Kaur, 2nd Position with 80.6% marks.

Besides, 48 students have attained high 1st Division. Most of the students have got 90% to 98% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Maths while 100% marks have been scored by students in Music.

The whole credit of these lofty achievements goes to parents, teachers as well as active leadership of the Principal. This academy is running smoothly under the benign supervision of Sant Baba Jagtar Singh Ji whose blessings are always with staff members as well as students. The Environment of the Academy is full of happiness. We profusely thank Almighty for providing us such a glorious achievement.

 

 

FUTURE PLANNINGS

 

Guru Nanak Dev Academy is gearing up to opt modern latest techniques and looking forward to provide value-base education. Some of the future plannings that have already been initiated;

  • School building has been extended for senior secondary level with many new modern facilities rooms for Hi-Tech based education. New spacious class rooms and other activities rooms are recently constructed and completed altogether. Maths Labs, Language Labs, Social Science Labs have already been established.
  • The Academy is planning to develop more class rooms as smart rooms. This concept is being planned in other class rooms as well.
  • Two teachers are being appointed shortly to develop communication skills in English from the beginning of the new session 2017-18.
  • Shed for cycles and buses are also being constructed separately.
  • The main emphasis is laid for sports complex which includes:
    1. Hockey ground with Astro turf and Track for 100m 400m races and hurdles.
    2. Volleyball, Basketball and Football ground.
  • Boxing and Kho-Kho arenas and wrestling mats.
  1. Badminton court and Gymnasium hall with Olympics size standards.
  • Students will be given all kinds of religious knowledge with scientific education. A temple of wisdom for full knowledge of all religions will be built soon.
  • There will also be a Botanical Garden with different types of herbal plants. Trees such as Amla, Neem, Jamun etc have been planted near all the boundaries of the school to cover 50% greenery, giving environmental benefits.
  • 30 CCTV cameras have been installed at different places. More corners/classes shall also be covered in phased manners.
